SPACED PROMOTIONAL INFORMATION
The following document includes some general information about Spaced, as well as some guidelines on how to promote the Spaced project you’re creating.
About Spaced
Spaced commissions context-responsive and socially engaged art projects across the whole of Western Australia and beyond. Our programs are grounded in artistic practices that explore everyday life issues and histories through a dialogue with diverse social groups. Through our programs, we create diverse and challenging experiences for artists and communities through contemporary visual art.
For over 20 years, our organisation has been delivering programs that build connections between contemporary art and non‐specialist audiences, especially, but not exclusively, in regional and remote communities. The art projects we commission as part of these programs emerge from residencies that enable artists to engage with specific social, environmental, and historical contexts.
The current Spaced programs are:
Know Thy Neighbour #3 (2021-23)
Know Thy Neighbour #3 is a provocation to the familiarity of place, asking Perth metropolitan communities to step outside of familiar engagements and locations. This program will seek out scenarios or contexts that defamiliarize and recontextualise ‘the local’ for audiences, communities, or the artists themselves, asking how we can meaningfully engage in the making of our cities. This program is presented with the UWA School of Design.
